About YourBizValue

Practical Insights for Privately Held Business Owners

Why this site exists

A business can be an owner’s largest financial asset, most demanding responsibility and most personal achievement. Yet many owners spend years running their companies without a clear understanding of what makes those companies valuable to someone else.

YourBizValue was created to make that discussion more practical. It brings the perspective of decades spent working with privately held business owners, evaluating companies, and helping buyers and sellers navigate real transactions. The goal is to explain the decisions that affect business value in language owners can use.

The perspective behind the advice

YourBizValue was founded by Richard Lodigiani Sr., a longtime business broker, business owner and former CPA. His perspective draws on decades of working with owners and buyers of privately held companies, including manufacturing and service businesses. Richard is also associated with New England Business Sales, a business brokerage firm. This website is an independently presented educational resource, not an offer of brokerage representation.

The central lesson is that value is not determined by revenue alone. Sustainable earnings, customer relationships, management depth, reputation, industry conditions and the ability of a company to operate after its owner leaves all matter.

Who it is for

YourBizValue is for owners who want to understand value, strengthen their companies, plan for retirement or succession, consider a sale, or evaluate their options when business is difficult. The principles apply across many company sizes; the site is not limited to a particular revenue threshold.

What to expect

You will find plain-language articles, questions worth asking and practical examples. The material is educational, not a substitute for transaction-specific legal, tax, valuation or financial advice. Future tools and introductions, if offered, will be identified separately with clear disclosures.

Educational information only. Not a formal business appraisal, legal opinion, tax advice, or representation in a transaction.
